For Immediate Release: January 29, 1982
Paintings and prints by Foothill College art instructor Edith Smith will
be exhibited at the Foothill College Library from February 15 through March 4.
A teacher of etching and watercolor at the College, Edith Smith has just returned
from a Fall Quarter in Paris, where she studied engraving techniques at the Atelier
de Gravure Calevaert-Brun. The exhibit will include serial watermedia paintings,
mezzotint prints, and computer-assisted etchings. Using the graphic potential of a
DEC PDP10 computer, a computer-directed Varian printer, and intermediary photo-
graphic processes, Ms. Smith has produced colorful computerized etchings which have
been previously displayed at the Ohio State University Art Gallery and the de Young
Museum.
